A Home Party Candle Business or a Network Marketing Candle Business?

Published by under home based candle business

So you are thinking about starting a candle business, that is great.

However, before you make the decision to get started with your new venture, you will want to think about if you want to start a home party candle business or a network marketing candle business?

Here are some of the differences between the two business models.
A home party candle business will require you to do a certain number of parties very month. Are you ready, able and willing to do this? Many people do not have what it takes to do parties or may get quickly burned out by all the parties. With a network marketing candle business you usually do not have to do parties at all.

A home party candle business will usually pay you more on products and less on residual income from recruiting new team partners, whereas a network marketing candle company will usually offer you the opposite.

A home party candle business may focus more on products and in some cases only on candles and accessories, whereas a network marketing candle business will offer a wider variety of products.

A home party candle business will usually have no autoship but require you to sell a given amount of product every month, quarter or year, but a network marketing candle business will usually have a small autoship requirement instead.

There may be other differences but in general these are the main ones. Whichever you choose be sure to stick with it and to do your best and you will succeed.

7 Principles of Successful Candle Selling

Published by under candle selling

So you are considering selling candles? Congratulations! It’s lots of fun and it can be easy and profitable if you follow a few key points.

1. Let the smell of the candle do the selling. The smell is want will encourage most people to buy your candles so let the smell do its job.

2. Avoid talking too much. Although it can be tempting to tell your potential customer everything about the candle, this can make the likelihood that you will sell significantly less.

3. Allow as many people as possible to smell your candles. The more people who smell, the more successful your candle selling will be.

4. Burn your candles yourself. This may seem obvious, but too often people try to sell something they have not tried or are not using themselves.

5. Learn as much as you can about the best selling scents and keep samples of as many of them as possible in stock so that people can smell them.

6. Consider loaning jars to people for 1-2 days at a time to try. Odds are that once they have tried your candle, they will be hooked and they will want to buy.

7. Take the lid off when showing your candle to someone so that they do not have to hassle with the lid themselves.

Follow these short and simple tips and you will be successful with your candle selling.

6 Different Types of Candle Jars

Published by under candle jars

There are many different types of candle jars.
1. The most popular and basic is the classic 16 oz. jar. Many candle companies feature this jar candle as there standard size. This kind of candle jar is a nice size because it does not take up too much space and yet it lasts a reasonable amount of time and throws the candle scent within a reasonable distance.

2. Some candle companies also offer a 14 oz. jar candle. This size is similar to the 16 oz. only a few ounces smaller. In recent years many of the candles that were 16 oz. are now 14 oz. The only real reason for this is to decrease the cost of the candle, although in many cases they still cost just as much.

3. There is also the 8 oz. jar. In many cases this size of candle jar is used for more gourmet and fancier type candles. For example, my candle company has a spa line of candles which are 8 oz.

4. The 22 oz. jar. This size is used by some companies to offer consumers a larger jar that will last even longer than the 16 oz. jar.

5. The 20 oz open jar. I have not seen many candle companies offering this size, and my company just released candles of this size. They are in a rounder jar that has three wicks and is designed to be more of a coffee table type candle.

6. The 3-5 oz. jar. These candles are smaller and more like votive candles, although in some cases they may actually be like jar candles only very small. These work better when you want to use more than one in the same room for decoration, romance and lighting.

Why a Candle Making Business May Not Be the Best Idea

Published by under Uncategorized

Are you considering starting a candle making business?

I talk with people all the time who have made candles in the past and many of them are looking to start a candle business but not a candle making business. They enjoyed it at the time they were making the candles but soon grew tired and found the process and business of candle making to be much more difficult than they had previously imagined. In addition there are many other aspects of running a successful candle business and for most people it is easier and a more effective use of time to focus on the other aspects of being successful instead of spending their time making candles. Also if you are not the creative type, you may find it more challenging to make candles than you may have anticipated. So if you are considering a candle making business you may want to reconsider and to make sure that you have taken into account all the aspects of being successful before you make the decision to get started.
